afshan has been selected as one of the playwrights for the NOVA 2026 at Tara Theatre, a program designed to champion South Asian writers and voices

The play she is working on is called ‘the woman who defended an elephant’ 

A courtroom drama rooted in history and magical realism, based on the life of Cornelia Sorabji, the first woman to study law at Oxford to practise law in India and Britain.

She is one of the three writers selected including Dilan Tulsiani and Mohammed Barber.
